Ampara District Team Provincial Rugby champions

Ampara District team won the Eastern Province Rugby tournament beating Trincomalee District team by 15 points to nil in the final conducted by the Eastern Province Sports Department worked off at the Leelarathna Play Grounds, Kantale recently.

This tournament was successfully organized by the Province Sports Department Director N.M.Nowfees and Eastern Province Education Ministry Secretary H.E.M.W.G.Dissanayaka was the Chief Guest. The final match was played between the Ampara district team and Trincomalee district team. The Rugby championship was held as a part of Eastern Province Sports Festival-2022.

The champions team have been selected for the upcoming National Rugby championship-2022 will be conducted by the Sports Ministry. Ampara district team players are lucky to have the services of its Physical Education Teacher and Coach I.L.M.Fais who is the strength behind their success.

Winners and coach I.L.M.Fais were congratulated by the Ampara District Sports Officer M.I.M.Ameer Ali and Addalaichenai Sports Officer M.H.M.Aswath.
