Ananda College emerged champions of the Western Province School Games Seven-A-Side Rugby Tournament when they defeated D. S. Senanayake College 21-7 in the final played at Zahira College Grounds, Maradana.
Earlier, in the semi-finals D. S. Senanayake outplayed President’s College, Maharagama 29-0 while Ananda had the better of Zahira 17-7. Meanwhile, President’s College secured third place when they edged out Zahira 19-12 in the consolation final.
The tournament was organised by the Western Province Education Department in collaboration with Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) with a special sponsorship from SLR President Rizly Illyas. The awards were presented by Chief Guest Roshan Deen (Chairman SLR Development), Dhammika Kulathunga (Assistant Education Director – Physical Education and Sports), Trizvii Marikkar (Zahira Principal), Aufer Johar (Zahira Rugby Coordinator) and K. S. P. Karunaratne (Tournament Coordinator)
