He then played for the UAE national cricket team while representing them in the 2015 ICC Men’s World Cup. At present he is domiciled in Qatar while representing the Qatar national cricket team. It’s a very rare occasion for a player to represent the national cricket team of three different countries.

Speaking to Daily News all the way from Qatar, Berenger said “My dad noticed that I had an interest in cricket, so he wanted me to play cricket. So that’s how I got into this beautiful game of cricket.

“After I started playing cricket it was my beloved parents who supported me the most. They have shown a lot of support throughout the years and still do. Also by watching the 1996 world cup final which made me love the sport”.

“Throughout my entire life always my family has been everything to me and in return my first priority will always be them”. “When St Peter College announced the team for the big match in 2007, I was in the team so I didn’t sleep for days due to excitement. It was honestly

my best feeling ever. Also in 2009 big match against St.Josephs, I scored 75 and 56 in both innings to become the second best batsman in the history behind great Rohan Buultjens to achieve the best batting double for my college, hence it will always be in my memory right throughout my whole life as one of the most unforgettable incidents to date”.

My favourite holiday destination will surely be New Zealand and my greatest accomplishment in life is really hard to say, but I will say being selected to make my one day International debut against Afghanistan and scoring fifty and also playing in the 2015 ICC WORLD CUP as an opening batsman cum wicket keeper for UAE (United Arab Emirates). It was a great honour.

Honestly speaking to date, I really cherished that moment”.

“During my leisure time what I enjoy most is hiking and honestly depending on the mood I am listening to music, but mostly into RnB and country music. When it comes to Sri Lankan music, I am definitely a big fan of the late Sunil Perera (Gypsies)”.

“With the current situation of Covid-19 pandemic, you have a lot of rules you need to follow. But sometimes it holds you back. So I am happy with what I am doing at the moment”.

“Honestly I haven’t really compared myself to anyone. I always wanted to do things differently from the rest”. “Thus far I am happy with all my achievements, I should say starting from my school days up to now”.

“My favourite Cricketer is Yuvraj Singh and my favourite actor is Stacey Johnson”.

“On a concluding note Berenger said that he likes to describe himself as a friendly and a confident person”.
