Annual Pentathlon Swimming C’ships kicks off

The three-day Annual Pentathlon Swimming Championships, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), commenced at the Sugathadasa Stadium Aquatic Centre yesterday.

Over 102 teams, schools, and clubs from across the country participated in the event, featuring both boys and girls competing in six different age groups: Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-20, and Over-20.

On the opening day, only the Under-11 and Under-13 age group events in the 50m Butterfly (50FLY), 50m Backstroke (50BK), 50m Breaststroke (50BR), and 50m Freestyle (50FR) were concluded. The championship’s finals will take place on Sunday, featuring the 200m Individual Medley (200IM) events scheduled for each age group. Defending Champions for the Boys are St Joseph’s College and St Peter’s College, while Visakha Vidyalaya are the title holders for girls.
