Another Parliament employee interdicted over sex abuse charges
Another employee of the Parliament’s Housekeeping Department was interdicted yesterday due to the alleged sexual abuse of some female employees of the same department for a long time.
Accordingly, an assistant attached to the House Keeping Department was interdicted by Parliamentary Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera. The Secretary General of Parliament has taken this step after information was revealed during the investigations that this employee had assisted an officer of that department in sexual harassment.
The Assistant Housekeeper of the Parliamentary Housekeeping Department was earlier interdicted in connection with the sexual harassment incident. A three-member committee headed by three female officers under the direction of the General Secretary of Parliament is investigating the incident and its report is to be handed over to the General Secretary in a few days.
