The 47th Annual Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Championship began yesterday at the Sugathadasa swimming Complex with the presence of Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education, Chandani Udukumbura – President SLSASA, Krishan Duminda – Secretary SLSASA, Jason Avanceña – Managing Director of Nestle, Bandula Egodage, Vice President – Corporate Regulatory Affairs, Nestle Lanka, Ruwan Welikala, Vice President- Dairy, Nestle Lanka at the opening ceremony. Anusara Abeygunawardena of Wycherley International School clocked 5.02.17 seconds to establish a new meet record in the Boys’ Under 20 Intermediate Senior 400m, breaking Dilanka Shehan’s record which was set in 2018, at the 47th Milo Annual Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Championship which kicked off at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex in Colombo, yesterday.
Anusara was able to win the event with a clear lead while P.V.A. Dulshsn of Nalanda College and Dirhen Dias shared second and third places, respectively.
Offering a National platform for 5000 children representing over 200 schools, the Championship is organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association and sponsored by Nestle Milo. The swim meet will continue today.
