Apeksha Hospital radiologists call off strike

The strike initiated by the Radiologists’ Union of the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama has been called off.

The Radiologists’ Union decided to call off their four-day strike yesterday (8) evening, following fruitful discussions held with the Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala and the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena.

During the discussion, it has been decided to remove the previously issued letter to limit additional service payments

and to give written instructions to pay as previously paid and also to appoint a special committee to solve the problems related to allowances.

The Radiologists of Apeksha Hospital launched a strike by temporarily withdrawing from overtime duties on Tuesday (5) that left cancer patients in distress. The trade union action by the radiologists was launched over the authorities’ decision to cut their overtime payments.
