Application deadline extended till Nov. 5

Accepting applications for the Presidential Media Awards 2024 has been extended until November 5.

The Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, National Unity, Social Security and Media Ministry has organised the Presidential Media Awards for the second time to honour and encourage journalists’ work in fostering an outstanding media culture in the country.

The awards will recognise achievements in several media categories, including print, radio, television, web platforms, media research, and school media.

A total of 54 awards will be presented, including 50 awards for various categories and four lifetime achievement awards for distinguished professionals who have made significant contributions to the media field.

Only creations published or broadcast between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023, will be considered for the awards.

These submissions must be independent creations and applications are preferred to be submitted through institutional heads. However, individuals may also submit applications on their behalf.

The nominations will be reviewed by subcommittees composed of experts appointed by the Ministry, and the final selection will be made by the main awards committee. The committee’s decision will be final.

Submissions for the awards will be accepted until 4.00 pm on November 05. More details and application forms can be obtained from the official website of the Ministry (www.media.gov.lk) or directly from the Ministry’s office.

Entries should be sent to the Additional Secretary (Development, Planning, and Information), Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, National Unity, Social Security, and Media, 163, Kirulapone Avenue, Polhengoda, Colombo 05.

The top left corner of the envelope should indicate the relevant media category and competition section of the submission.
