April Tourist arrivals up by 67%

For the fourth month in succession Sri Lanka Tourist arrivals for the month of April passed the 100,000 figure for the fourth succession month.

Total number of arrivals for the year is expected to pass the half a million mark in the second week of May. Total arrivals for 2023 todate stands at 441,177.

Total number of arrivals for April was 105,498 showing an increase of 67.5% against April 2022 which was 62,980.

In January 2023 Sri Lanka recorded 102,545 arrivals with 24.6% against the previous year and in February 2023 it reached 107,639. March arrivals this year was the best for 2023 with 125,495 visitors,showing an increase of 17.8% against the 2022 March.

India for the second month in succession was the top source destination for Sri Lanka accounting for 19,915 arrivals with an increase of 19% as against previous April while Russian Federation followed with 14,656. United Kingdom with 8,743 and Germany with 7,404 were third and fourth both showing a 7% increase against the previous April. (SS)
