Army bag overall title at Powerlifting Nationals

Sri Lanka Army SC put up a fine performance to emerge overall champions as they dominated the 2022 National Powerlifting Championships, conducted by the Sri Lanka Powerlifting Federation, and held at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo.

The powerlifters from Army SC showed their class throughout this annual event and were able to finish well ahead with three Gold Medals, three Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal. Army SC also had the satisfaction of producing the Best Powerlifter at this meet with Warrant Officer II, S. K. S. Pradeep claiming the individual honours in his weight category ahead of several other competitors.

The Men’s Championship was conducted in the weight categories of Under-59kg, 66kg, 74kg, 83kg, 93kg, 105kg, 120kg and above 120kg. Meanwhile, Simathra SC, Battaramulla clinched the Women’s Championship, which was conducted in the weight categories of Under-47kg, 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 72kg, 84kg and above 84kg.
