Arrest order for nine ‘Galle Face’ protesters

Court on Friday ordered the arrest of nine persons for protests and unruly behaviour in front of the Police headquarters and the Education Ministry in Pelawatte recently.

These include Wasantha Mudalige, Lahiru Weerasekera, Jagath Manuwarna, Jehan Appuhamy, Rathidu Senaratne (Ratta) and several others who are also considered to be in the forefront of the protests and Galle Face and elsewhere.

The order was issued after the Fort and Kaduwela Magistrate’s Courts reported the matter to the Court through a police B report.

The protest was organized on June 9 and 10.Charges had been filed for committing offences such as obstructing the duties of police officers, assault and causing offences under the Public Property Act.
