Artistic Swimming begins today

In a highly anticipated event featuring top-tier competitors, the Annual National Artistic Swimming Championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), is scheduled to take place on October 14 and 15. The competition venue is the Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Complex Swimming Pool in Ratmalana.

This championship showcases two age groups: “senior” for athletes aged 15 and above and “junior” for those aged 15 and below. The initial rounds will feature both solo and duet events, promising a thrilling spectacle for artistry in the water.

A total of four teams are vying for victory in this prestigious event: Aurora Synchro Club, Visakha Vidyalaya, Musaeus College, and Ladies’ College. With 24 elite-level swimmers competing across different age categories, the championship is set to be a pinnacle for artistic swimming in Sri Lanka.

In the elite-level domain of artistic swimming, defending champions have emerged in the form of Visakha Vidyalaya, securing the junior national category title, and Aurora Synchro Club, reigning as the senior national champions from the previous year.

The solo competition presents a unique challenge for junior category contestants who must flawlessly execute specific figures and a free routine to earn a coveted award. Meanwhile, senior category participants face the task of performing a technical routine and a free routine to qualify for similar recognition.
