Eleven-year-old up and coming volleyball player and former athlete Herath Gunawardene Mudalige Aruni Erandi has brought honour and fame for her Alma Mater Dhammissara National School Nattandiya. She was born on 3rd February 2009 and admitted to this school in 2015 during the tenure of the present Principal Anil Pushpakumara and her first class teacher was Mrs. Chandra Kanthi.

She commenced her athletics when she was in grade three and participating at the school sports meet in 50 and 60 meters and in high jump she came second and in the following two years too participating in the same event she repeated the same performances and when she was in grade six she swept the board in 100 and 60 meters and high jump and she became second in high jump and third in 100 meters.
In the mean time her parents Sisira Kumara and Kamanthi Thelisinghe noticing her talent and keenness on volleyball she was handed over to the Prefect of Games Keerthi Jayasekera and her coach is P. A. Haritha Dishan. She has went throgh hard and strenuous training and playing practice matches she got selected to the under 11 team. They participated for the Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Tournaments and winning all these levels they participated for the All Island under 11 DSI Tournament in 2019 and her school secured the second place. When they commenced regular practices in preparation for the All Island Schools Tournament and at the eleventh hour due to Covid the tournament was postponed indefinitely.
