ASPI records largest daily gain in 5 weeks
Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Commercial Bank, John Keells Holdings and Sampath Bank with the turnover crossing Rs 3.3 Bn.
High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in John Keells Holdings, Renuka Agri Foods, and CIC Holdings.
Mixed interest was observed in Central Finance Company, Hayleys Fabric and Capital Alliance whilst retail interest was noted in Agarapatana Plantations, Browns Investments and LOLC Finance. Furthermore, foreigners remained active, closing as net sellers.
The Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings) whilst the sector index gained 2.98%.
The share price of John Keells Holdings increased by Rs 8.25 (4.62%) to close at Rs 187.
Food, Beverage & Tobacco sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Renuka Agri Foods and Agarapatana Plantations) whilst the sector index increased by 1.18%. The share price of Renuka Agri Foods gained Rs 0.20 (4.26%) to close at Rs 4.90.
