Assets under scrutiny, drug dealer further remanded
Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Ragala yesterday rejected the bail application filed by the notorious drug dealer Ruwan Chamila Prasanna alias ‘Dematagoda Ruwan’.
The Magistrate has ordered that a valuation report be called from the National Gem and Jewellery Authority Chairman pertaining to the one and a half kilos of gold jewellery seized from Ruwan’s residence.
The Illegal Assets and Property Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed court that nearly Rs. 50 million in cash and a stock of gold worth Rs. 15 million has been seized from a safe belonging to the suspect.
The CID also stated that an investigation has been launched into over Rs.20 million belonging to three bank accounts of the suspect’s wife.
Ruwan Chamila Prasanna alias ‘Dematagoda Ruwan’ who was recently taken into custody over illegal acquisition of assets, has been further remanded until December 3.
