Atarah Capital contracted as Business Advisory Service Provider to PSD
Atarah Capital has been contracted as a Business Advisory Service Provider for the USAID CATALYZE Private Sector Development (PSD) Activity’s funding program, aimed at facilitating equity capital for SMEs via listing in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).
Speaking to the Daily News Business, Non-Executive Independent Director of Atarah Capital Jennifer Samuel-Perera said, “our focus would be to identify women-led entities, since capital markets in the recent past has not witnessed women-led entities successfully raising equity capital via listing in the CSE.
We have already commenced engagement with The Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) in Sri Lanka for necessary facilitation, to identify and list women-led organizations. Apparel, Exports, Food and ICT considered as critical sectors of Sri Lanka’s economy will be the focus of this Program.”
USAID CATALYZE PSDs funding program is an excellent opportunity for SMEs to gain access to equity funding, given the challenges faced by them in 2022 and 2023 due to high cost of borrowing,” Perera further stated.
Atarah Capital is licensed and regulated by Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, under the market intermediary category of “Corporate Finance Advisor”.
The company pioneered the launch of the “Empower Board” of the Colombo Stock Exchange in 2021 by successfully listing Chrissworld PLC, and established as the Investment Banking firm that has listed the most number of SMEs in the Colombo Stock Exchange since 2021.
