Athlete Ishara Nethmini Pallegama does Ibbagamuwa Central proud

Eighteen year old Athlete John Tarbet Junior and Senior All Island National Youth and Wayamba Provincial Colours holder South Asian Junior Meet Silver Medallist Ishara Nethmini Pallegama has brought honour and immense glory to her alma mater Ibbagamuwa Central College and her motherland in general.

She was born in October 29, 2003 and initially admitted to Ibbagamuwa Model School when Mr.Eriyawa was at the helm of the school. During this period there was no sports activities in this school and she was admitted to Ibbagamuwa Central College in 2014. In the meantime her Parents Rathnapala Pallegama and Sumanawathie Amarasinghe noticing her talents for athletics handed over their daughter to the school coach and Master in Charge of Athltics Sumedha Jayakody. Her first ever athletic meet was John Tarbet Junior Meet held at Embilipitiya in 2014 and in the under 12 age group in High Jump she could not win a place.

Then in 2015 at the school sports meet she won the High Jump event and came third in 100 metres and at the Divisional and Zonal Educational Meets she came first in High Jump and at the Junior John Tarbet Meet held at Anuradhapura she won Colours. Then at the 2016 Divisional, Zonal and Provincial Meets she came first and at the John Tarbet Meet she came fourth and at the All Island in 2019 after winning all the lower tournaments she came first in the Provincial Meet and at the All Island Schools Meet she cleared 1.65 meters and came first and won Colours and at the Junior Nationals under 18 meet she cleared the same height and came first and she was selected for the Tour of Youth Asian Championship in Hong Kong and she came fourth and got a Merit Certificate and after returning to Sri Lanka and participating at the National Youth Meet she came first and cleared 1.65 metres In the meantime she passed the Ordinary Level Exam with flying colours and obtained Seven ‘A’ s and two ‘B’ s and in the same year at the Wayamba Provincial Meet she came first with a clearance of 1.75 metres and set a Provincial record.
