Athletic official Sachithanandan dies

He first joined the administration of Athletics in 1964 as a committee member of the Association and became its Assistant Secretary in 1974. At the same time, he was the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Athletic Association from 1979 to 1981. He has been an outstanding service to athletics in Sri Lanka for over 50 years and is one of the most senior Track & Field technical officers in Sri Lanka, giving his valuable service. Sachinanandan, popularly known as ‘Sachi’ at the Athletic field also done a tremendous job as a Secretary of the Masters Athletic Association as well as Senior Vice President of the Mercantile Athletic Association.

The well fluent English announcer at the National athletic meets value service is highly appreciated by present athletic governing body Sri Lanka Athletics.

His beloved wife Mallika was also involved with the athletic field as a technical officer as well as a medal-winning athlete at Masters athletic meets, both in domestic and international meets. (D.R.)
