Attempt on former Rathgama PS member, a contract by Dubai based criminal

Police investigations have revealed that the attempt made to kill a former member of the Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Dulaj Tharanga, near the Seenigama devalaya last Saturday (17) was done on a contract given by underworld criminal Kosgoda Sujee in Dubai.

A senior police officer said that Dulaj Tharanga, a resident of Bopagoda, Rathgama, was the brother of the wife of an underworld drug dealer named Ratgama Vidura.

It is said a 22-year-old girl a person known to Dulaj Tharanga had asked him to meet her near Seenigama devalaya where the shooting took place. After the shooting, on the same day she had fled to Maldives from Katunayake airport. Intelligence agencies have received information that she has gone to Dubai from Maldives.

Investigations have revealed that the reason for this shooting was a counter attack to the shooting on the Vice Principal of Ambalangoda Dharmashoka College, who is a relative of Kosgoda Suji. It is said both of these shootings happened as a result of the power struggle between Kosgoda Sujee and Rathgama Vidura. Dulaj Tharanga, injured in the shooting is receiving treatment at the hospital.
