Attempt to amend the labour laws must be defeated – NPP

National People’s Power Member, MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said that the Government is attempting to amend laws in

violation of labour rights. The MP made this statement while participating in a press conference held at the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna headquarters in Battaramulla.

She said that the Government’s attempt to amend the labour laws must be defeated.

She said if implemented these laws will allow employers to violate labour rights.

The MP also said that women in Sri Lanka do a lot of work without getting paid.
