Attractive incentive package to encourage investors – Dilum
Investment Promotion State Minister Dilum Amunugama told in Parliament yesterday that steps will be taken to introduce an attractive incentive package to encourage investors in the near future. He said that measures will be taken for the uplift of young rural entrepreneurs and they will also be provided state lands and buildings if they need them.
He also said steps will be taken to provide BOI facility for young entrepreneurs. The state minister also said that a system will be prepared to provide a tax relief package necessary to build a sub-factory in rural areas at the divisional secretariat level.
The minister said this while joining the debate on the second reading of the budget. “People are fed up with these 225 MPs because the Opposition tries to distort the facts when we are going to do something good for the country. I believe that this the most difficult budget presented at difficult time after Independence. An economic crisis is not confined only to our country. The entire world has battered by this. Because of this crisis, several Prime Ministers have been resigned in Britain so far. This budget has a visionary plan to overcome this crisis. There are certain groups inside and outside parliament who are trying to gain power by toppling the government economically. They do not think that the entire country will fall when the government is toppled. Bombs were blasted in the past to bring down the country. No bombing today. But using the phone in hand is most dangerous. Struggles and demonstrations are organized through this. Even investors coming to the country are stopped. Even though it is difficult, money has been allocated for disabled and elderly people, even for education and health from this budget Exporters should be encouraged. More attention should be given to foreign investments. On the advice of the President, steps have been taken to develop this sector. 73 investors with worth of US$ 500 who were stuck in the whole process are being given the necessary facilities. Giving B.O.I. relief package for investors is not enough. Necessary steps are being taken to establish the National Productivity Commission.
