Australia aim for series whitewash in Sydney Test
Australia will look for a series whitewash when they take on the touring South Africa Team in the third and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground tomorrow.
Australia will start favourites after their dominance in the opening two Tests where they won the series opener by an innings and 182 runs at Melbourne inside two days and then wrapped-up the second Test by six wickets at Brisbane last week.
With Green and Mitchell Starc both fracturing fingers in the second Test, all-rounder Ashton Agar and opener Matthew Renshaw have been called up for the third Test while Josh Hazlewood returns to the squad after missing the first two Tests with a side strain and the uncapped Lance Morris retains his place, making it an interesting variety of bowlers to choose from. There is a high chance that South Africa will play pretty much the same team that they did in the second Test, except for Theunis de Bruyn, who has flown home for the birth of his first child.
That news means that Heinrich Klaasen is likely to be called up for just his second Test appearance, more than three years after his debut against India.
Australia Squad: Pat Cummins (Captain), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Lance Morris, Nathan Lyon, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith and David Warner.
South Africa Squad: Dean Elgar (Captain), Temba Bavuma, Gerald Coetzee, Theunis de Bruyn, Sarel Eree, Simon Harmer, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Heinrich Klaasen, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne, Lizaad Williams and Khaya Zondo.
