Sri Lanka Hockey team lost to Bangladesh 1/3 in their second game of the Asian Games qualifying Hockey tournament played in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday.
The Sri Lanka team made a good fight during the four quarters of the game while Bangladesh took an early lead of 2/0 after the second quarter. Vipul Dhanushka Fernando was able to score a solitary goal in the third quarter and Bangladesh led 2/1 after the third quarter of the match. However, Bangladesh made a good display to add one more goal to finish the fourth quarter. They maintained an unbeaten record so far in this tournament.
After yesterday’s match results Oman and Uzbekistan are laying in first and second places in Group A while Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are in first and second places in Group ‘B’.
Earlier Sri Lanka beat Singapore 5-2 in their opening game while the third game between Sri Lanka and Indonesia will be played today (12) at the same venue in Bangkok. Nine countries are taking part in this tournament while six teams have chances to qualify for the Asian Games. (D.R)
