Bangladesh Speaker (Dr.) Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury calls on her SL counterpart
Bangladesh Speaker (Dr.) Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka, called on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at Parliament recently (18). The Secretary General of the Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera and the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Tareq Md. Ariful Islam were also present on this occasion.
The Speaker of Bangladesh (Dr.) Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed her appreciation for Sri Lanka being able to overcome the economic crisis in a short period of time. She further stated that the Parliamentary Friendship Association between the two countries is expected to be revived following the Bangladesh Parliamentary election to be held in early 2024.
The Speaker of Bangladesh also invited the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena for an official visit to Bangladesh. Furthermore, cordial discussions were held between the two parties regarding matters such as the parliamentary system of two countries, healthcare services, industrial sector, tourism sector, investments and exports sectors. Following the meeting, the Speaker of Bangladesh (Dr.) Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also signed the visitors’ book in the Speaker’s VIP room in the Parliament.
