Basil, Nadesan acquitted in alleged misappropriation case

Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Thirukumar Nadesan were acquitted from a case filed by the Attorney General over misappropriating state funds to purchase a plot of land and build a luxurious home in Malwana, Dompe.

The order was issued by the Gampaha High Court Judge Nimal Ranaweera yesterday.

The judge stated that the case would not proceed because the plaintiff had failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

The case was filed against Basil Rajapaksa and Thirukumar Nadesan and served three indictments by the Attorney General for misappropriating state funds to purchase the 16-acre plot of land to build a luxury house.
