Basil will help strengthen country’s economy – State Minister Viyalendran

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) founder Basil Rajapaksa can make a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s economy, State Minister of Backward Rural Areas Development and Promotion of Domestic Animal Husbandry and Small Economic Crop Cultivation S.Viyalendran said.

He said Basil Rajapaksa can render a yeoman service to the country as a Member of Parliament and a Minister in the near future. The State Minister said he was confident Rajapaksa will enter Parliament soon. Viyalendran in a media statement said Basil Rajapaksa, as the Minister of Economic Development earlier took many measures to strengthen the economy.

He said the ‘Uthuru Wasanthaya’ and ‘Nagenahira Navodaya’ under Rajapaksa were instrumental in the uplift of the living standards of the people of the North and East, who had been affected by the 30 year terrorist war. He said Rajapaksa has also rendered great service to the people during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
