He was speaking under the theme “Build the Nation towards the Prosperity”. Under this theme, 100 towns in Sri Lanka will be beautified at a cost of Rs. 17.38 million funded by the Urban Development Authority. A walkway will be constructed from the Urani Junction up to the Batticaloa Airport as well.

He said that the President had to face many challenges such as COVID-19, unemployment, poverty and other economic issues. You might ask why a project to beautify towns was launched at this time. We as representatives of the Government have to fulfill the needs of the people. We cannot wait until the pandemic is over to develop the country, he said.
