Thalangama Police on Tuesday arrested a beggar near the Nawala supermarket for the killing of an ayurvedic doctor a year ago after the latter refused to give him money.
This incident took place on April 26, 2022 in front of a supermarket in Thalawathugoda, police said.
The victim, Senarath Nishshanka (54) was an Ayurvedic practitioner was a resident of Thalangama, Thalahena Pothuarawa. Even though the suspect was recognized through the CCTV, the police failed to arrest him as he was in hiding following the incident.
However the suspect was arrested during a raid done on last Tuesday (23) according based on an information received recently saying that he was seen near a supermarket in Welikada police
division. He was a 45 years old resident of Pannala, Makandura. The suspect was to be produced in the Kaduwela magistrate’s court.
