0 1

Parking of driverless vehicles outside the Arrival Terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has been prohibited in order to avoid traffic congestion.

It is a part of a series of new measures introduced regarding the parking and handling of vehicles at the BIA. In addition, all vehicles arriving to pick up incoming passengers should arrive at the BIA Arrival Terminal only at designated times from the respective parking lots.

Drivers who operate their vehicles for more than 30 minutes unnecessarily in the airport premises without heeding warnings by officials will be subject to a special fee when leaving the airport.

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited Chairman Engineer Athula Galketiya said with the new regulations in force, passengers will have an easy and efficient transport service at the BIA, and it will be possible to prevent illegal and unwanted people and vehicles from entering the airport.
