BOC holds islandwide ‘Nana Jaya Career Guidance Educational’ seminar series

Bank of Ceylon playing its role as an active corporate citizen of the nation has rolled out ‘BOC Nana Jaya Career Guidance Educational’, Seminar Series islandwide, in partnering with the Department of Manpower and Employment

The programme is structured to guide GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level students towards their desired career paths by providing them with necessary information in choosing suitable subject streams and higher educational institutes in line with their career goals.

During the Seminar Series, the Department of Manpower and Employment provide insights into number of key areas such as selection of a suitable subject stream and subjects for GCE Advance Levels, foundation courses for higher studies, quality higher education institutions and courses as well as current demands and latest developments in the ever changing job-market.

Meanwhile, Bank of Ceylon educates the participating students on efficient saving methods and investment opportunities in order to enhance the level of financial literacy among schoolchildren to prepare them to become future leaders of the country. Moreover, the participating students also gain knowledge as to how to manage their limited funds more efficiently. In particular, the students receive comprehensive information of modern digital banking services and how to capitalize on such services to realize their life goals.

Under the ‘BOC Nana Jaya Scholarship Programme’, the BOC has awarded 2,908 students with scholarships amounting to over Rs.118 million since 2003. This programme provides monthly allowances to students with highest z-scores at A/L examination covering all six streams and it has become a widely popular scholarship among university students.

BOC Nana Jaya Career Guidance educational seminar series has already been held covering every province with over 2,500 students benefitting from it. The programme is fully sponsored by BOC 18+ SmartGen Account equipped with digital baking facilities.
