Book on Sri Lankan Malay Cuisine launched

The first ever Sinhala book written about Malay food in Sri Lanka ‘Rasin Sapiri Malay Bojun’ (Rasa Nya Fenuh Makanun Melayu – Delicious Malay Food) was launched at the Public Library Auditorium in Colombo 7 on Saturday (2).

This book was authored by journalist Edward Chandrasiri who previously wrote the renowned book on the history of Sri Lankan Malay Community and their heritage. Chandrasiri is highly respected and recognised for writing books based on the Sri Lankan Malay Community as a Sinhalese. The book consists of 150 famous and sumptuous Malay food recipes that Sri Lankan Malays frequently use for main meals, short eats, desserts and beverages.

Chief Guest Sri Lankan Chef and Executive Director of the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Dr. Pabilis Silva delivered the keynote address. The ceremony was organised by the Sri Lankan Malay Community Association (Parthubuhan Bansa Malayu Sri Lanka).

Around 400 representing a cross section of all communities in Sri Lanka attended this event.
