Bourse continues positive momentum

The All Share Price Index hence marginally rose by 2.2 points (+0.0%) to close at 7,811.6 yesterday whilst the S&P SL20 Index also gained 19.5 points (+0.7%) to close the day at 2,955.9.

John Keells Holdings, Expolanka Holdings, LOLC Holdings, Cargills Ceylon and Harischandra Mills remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at LKR 1,241.9 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of LKR 3,112.7 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 48,730.4k against the 12-month average daily volume of 173,785.9k. Capital Goods, Diversified Financials and Food and Beverage were the main sectors that contributed to the daily turnover.

The top traded counters for yesterday were Hatton National Bank LKR 402.4 mn, LOLC Holdings LKR 80.8 mn, Hayleys Fabric LKR52.6 mn, Panasian Power LKR46.0 mn and Teejay Lanka LKR 45.0 mn.

Foreigners were net sellers yesterday recording an outflow of LKR. 233.0 mn (USD116.2k) during the day. Foreign purchases stood at LKR 234.6 mn (USD117.0k) which were approximately witnessed in Commercial Bank, Singer Finance, Alliance Finance and Lanka Walltiles whilst total foreign sales amounted to LKR 467.6 mn (USD233.2k), assumed to be seen in Hatton National Bank, People’s Leasing & Finance, Three Acre Farms and John Keells Holdings. Further, off-board transactions were witnessed in Hatton National Bank yesterday. Additionally, Mahaweli Coconut Plantations, BPPL Holdings, LVL Energy Fund, HNB Finance and Laugfs Power (Voting & Non-Voting) touched their 52-week high prices whilst SMB Leasing witnessed the 52-week low price point yesterday.

Further, Panasian Power, SMB Leasing (Non-Voting), Industrial Asphalts, Hatton National Bank and Hayleys Fabric remained as the most actively traded stocks yesterday.
