Carsons Cumberbatch, LOLC Holdings, Browns Investments, Brown & Co and Sri Lanka Telecom remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at LKR.1, 930.4 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of LKR.3, 129.0 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 122,783.9k against the 12-month average daily volume of 176,011.5k.

Banking, Capital Goods, Diversified Financials, Food and Beverage and Transportation were the main sectors that contributed to the daily turnover.

The top traded counters for yesterday were Expolanka Holdings LKR308.0 mn (+0.6%), LOLC Holdings LKR 160.2 mn (+1.3%), John Keells Holdings LKR135.0 mn (+0.0%), Dipped Products LKR97.7 mn (+1.3%) and Hayleys Fabric LKR95.1 mn (-0.9%). Foreigners were net sellers yesterday recording an outflow of LKR207.7 mn during the day. Foreign purchases stood at LKR24.7 mn which were approximately witnessed in Hatton National Bank, Commercial Bank, Melstacorp and John Keells Hotels whilst total foreign sales amounted to LKR232.3 mn, assumed to be seen in John Keells Holdings, People’s Leasing & Finance, Ceylon Tobacco and Dialog Axiata. Further, off-board transactions were witnessed in John Keells Holdings and Tokyo Cement yesterday.

Additionally, Palm Garden Hotels, Mahaweli Coconut Plantations, Piramal Glass, HNB Finance (Voting & Non-Voting) and Laugfs Power (Voting & Non-Voting) touched their 52-week high prices whilst HNB Assurance, Prime Land Residencies and SMB Leasing (Voting & Non-Voting) witnessed the 52-week low price point yesterday. Further, SMB Leasing (Voting & Non-Voting), Hayleys Fabric, Expolanka Holdings and Browns Investments remained as the most actively traded stocks yesterday.

Meanwhile Tokyo Cement declared its final dividend of LKR0.85 for FY21 yesterday. On the other hand, Browns Investments, a subsidiary of LOLC group disclosed that the company acquired a 100 room hotel in Mauritius for a total consideration of USD3.7 mn along with its debt.
