Bourse records over Rs. 3 bn turnover

Colombo bourse continued its upward trend recording over Rs. 3 bn turnover which LIOC contributed more than 45% of day’s turnover after the announcement of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Power and Energy authorising the establishment of 50 new filling stations by Lanka IOC PLC, the local unit of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Thus, All-Share Price Index increased by 89.6 points (+1.1%) to close at 8,422.9 for the day whilst S&P SL20 Index gained by 66.0 points (+2.4%) to close at 2,794.2. LOLC Holdings, Lanka IOC, Chevron Lubricants, Melstacorp and Aitken Spence remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day.

Further, the broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 3,334.3 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 4,451.7 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 85,616.2k against the 12-month average daily volume of 215,152.8k. Energy and Capital Goods mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.
