Bourse turns bullish – Acuity Stockbrokers

The Bourse ended the week on a positive note this week with ASPI increasing by 387.13 points (or 5.47%) to close at 7,467.82 points, while the S&P SL20 Index also increased by 155.34 points (or 6.92%) to close at 2,400.17 points.

Turnover & Market Capitalization

Bourse turns bullish – Acuity StockbrokersExpolanka was the highest contributor to the week’s turnover value, contributing LKR 0.89Bn or 24.27% of the total turnover value. Browns Investments followed suit, accounting for 11.84% of turnover (value of LKR 0.43Bn) while Lanka IOC contributed LKR 0.31Bn to account for 8.51% of the week’s turnover. The total turnover value amounted to LKR 3.66Bn (cf. last week’s value of LKR 4.39Bn), while the daily average turnover value amounted to LKR 0.91Bn (4.25% W-o-W) compared to last week’s average of LKR 0.88Bn. Market capitalization meanwhile, increased by 5.71% W-o-W (or LKR 175.49Bn) to LKR 3,251.43Bn cf. LKR 3,075.93Bn last week.

Liquidity (Value & Volume)

Transportation Industry Group was the highest contributor to the week’s total turnover value, accounting for 24.28% (or LKR 0.89Bn) of market turnover. Industry Group’s turnover was driven primarily by Expolanka which accounted for 99.98% of the sector’s total turnover. Food Beverage & Tobacco Group meanwhile accounted for 22.95% of the total turnover value while Capital Goods Group contributed 14.61% to the weekly turnover.

The Food Beverage & Tobacco Industry Group dominated the market in terms of share volume, accounting for 33.30% (or 73.51Mn shares) of total volume, with a value contribution of LKR 0.84Bn. The Diversified Financials Industry Group followed suit, adding 30.26% to the total volume (66.81Mn shares) while the Materials Group contributed 7.86% (17.36Mn shares) to the weekly share volume.

Total foreign purchases decreased by 80.0% W-o-W to LKR 0.06Bn from last week’s value of LKR 0.31Bn, while total foreign sales amounted to LKR 0.06Bn relative to LKR 0.07Bn recorded last week (-7.5% W-o-W).
