Colombo bourse volatility continues with ASPI falling below 8,000 mark amidst mixed investor interest on bargain hunting.
Thus, All-Share Price Index decreased by 40.8 points (-0.5%) to close at 7,777.0 for the day whilst S&P SL20 Index also fell by 14.9 points (-0.6%) to close at 2,366.6.LOLC Holdings, Lanka IOC, Sampath Bank, Expolanka Holdings and Richard Pieris, remained as the top negative contributors to the ASPI during the day.
Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 1,204.3 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 3,712.8 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 36,087.9k against the 12-month average daily volume of 192,036.8k.174,379.7 k.
Transportation, Banks, Capital Goods, Banks and Diversified Financials mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.

Further, off-board transactions were witnessed in Citizen Development Business Finance (Rs.160.0 mn), John Keells Holdings (Rs.100.0mn), Commercial Bank (Rs.49.9 mn), and Hatton National Bank (Rs.32.4mn) yesterday. Additionally, Industrial Asphalts, Ceylon Hospitals (Voting), Ceylon Guardian Investment Trust, Associated Motor Finance and Keells Food Products were the top price gainers yesterday whilst The Good Hope, Ambeon Holdings, Mercantile Shipping, Chemanex (Non-Voting) and Union Chemicals were the top price losers.
