
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed a case in the Colombo High Court against former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, alleging that he accepted a bribe of Rs. 1 million from a businessman.
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena is accused of having allegedly accepted the bribe to facilitate a matter connected to the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI).
According to the complaint, the alleged payment was made in 2013.
The case has been filed following a lengthy investigation carried out by the Bribery Commission based on the businessman’s complaint.
The High Court is expected to take up the matter in due course. (Newswire)
