India is emerging as a key investment destination for businesses from BRICS countries, with business leaders highlighting opportunities in engineering, technology, trade and joint ventures.

Speaking on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, South African business leader Abednico Mkhari said companies from his country were keen to partner with Indian engineering firms and explore technology-sharing opportunities.

Mkhari, the founder and CEO of NTGR Engineering, also called for stronger trade between India and South Africa, describing businesses from the two countries as collaborators rather than competitors.

Russian businessman Alexandr Kokov, founder and CEO of GSBI Ltd, described India as a rapidly developing economy with significant investment potential.

Kokov said Russia viewed India as an important driver of the future development of both BRICS and the wider global economy, while identifying India as a priority destination for economic opportunities.

He also called for greater information sharing about India’s economy to help entrepreneurs from other BRICS countries identify growing sectors and potential investment opportunities.

The comments come as India hosts the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 under its 2026 chairship.
