Bring back locals from Afghanistan – Sajith

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa called on the Government to take steps to protect Sri Lankans employed in Afghanistan. He said the Government must also ensure the safety of staff members in the Sri Lankan Embassy in Afghanistan.

Premadasa urged the Government to act fast and bring down all Sri Lankans currently in that country. “The Taliban administration in Afghanistan must respect democratic principles and establish a democratic Government within the country as soon as possible. The Taliban administration must also recognise the rights of the female community in Afghanistan and also the human rights of all persons in that country. The SJB as Sri Lanka’s main Opposition pledges its support to the Afghan citizens at this moment,” he said.
