Brothel raided, three arrested

Negombo Division Criminal Investigation Bureau officers raided a brothel operating under the guise of a massage parlour in the Kurana area of Negombo on Thursday.

The brothel manager and two Taiwanese women aged 47 and 40 years were arrested. Investigations have revealed that the brothel has been in operation for a long time using Taiwanese women who had been brought to the country on tourist visas.

A senior Police officer said that when officers of the Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau raided and inspected the place, it was confirmed that it was not an Ayurvedic massage clinic as there was no Ayurvedic doctor present there. The officer also said that a therapy certificate is required to work in such places and these two arrested women did not possess such a certificate.
