Buddhika Chathuranga – a promising all-round sportsman
Buddhika was born on January 18, 1985 and had his early education at Dharmarama MV before he moved to Kandawala MV and ended up at St. Mary’s.
He took to athletics in the beginning and participated in the 800m and 1,500m events at the annual Inter-House Sports Meets in the Under-16 age group.
After moving to Kandawala MV, he joined the Under-15 Cricket Team and came under the guidance of Coach M. Premalal and Master-in-Charge Darshana Tharanga.
He scored 560 runs with four fifties and captured 23 wickets in his first year and helped his team to reach the second-round of the tournament.
Then in 2001 he joined St. Mary’s and scored over 400 runs with three half-centuries and bagged 24 wickets in the Under-17 Cricket Tournament.
