National People’s Power (NPP) MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya told Parliament yesterday (14) that the budget proposal is full of fairy tales.
The MP said that the country’s economy cannot be built by selling the available resources and taking loans, but the same is mentioned in this year’s budget as well.
The MP said this while joining the debate on the first day of the Second Reading of the budget.
The MP also said that the President presented a magical budget. The budget gap is Rs.2,851 billion. These budget proposals also include selling the resources in the country.
We have a problem as to what are the proposals in this budget other than selling the country’s resources and charging taxes. The President says not to oppose the sale of resources based on needs. These are funny stories. We need to think about how to grow the economy. There is no point in increasing 10,000 rupees.
There is no effect of this increase as the price of goods has gone up. No proposal to strengthen the economy has been presented here. This is an exploitation of working people. It is said that the money was increased for the relief. But even today the needy people don’t get relief. Even in the worst confusion that existed in prosperity, it works. There is no revolutionary change in this budget.
