Bus crew arrested for robbing shops at night

The Western Province Southern District Crime Division arrested three who robbed using their bus at night along with stolen property worth over Rs.300,000.

The bus was also nabbed along with the suspected conductor under the Kadawatha Highway Bridge. The bus owner and another conductor fled the scene leaving the bus behind.

Police managed to find stolen iron scaffolding equipment worth Rs.120,000 and two cylinders containing Nitrogen gas worth around Rs.200,000 by following the information revealed from the arrested suspect.

Hanwella Police received a complaint that two persons had stolen a stock of iron scaffolding equipment that had been kept in front of a construction equipment rental store.

Similarly, on last Saturday (14), another person lodged a complaint at the Mirihana Police regarding the theft of two Nitrogen cylinders from an air conditioner repair shop in Nugegoda, Mirihana.

Police said that during the questioning of the suspect regarding the two crimes, they revealed that they had sold the stolen property in Peliyagoda for Rs.80,000 to buy drugs. Police said that the three suspects are addicted to Ice and heroin. The arrested suspects will be produced before Court.
