Buses collide injuring 16
According to Police, 16 people were injured when two passenger buses collided at Danowita on the Colombo-Kandy Road on Saturday evening.
A private passenger transport bus plying from Vavuniya to Colombo collided with a private passenger bus travelling from Kandy to Colombo.
The bus travelling from Kandy to Colombo had stopped at Kamburadeniya area to pick up a passenger and the other bus which came from behind rammed into it, Police said. The sixteen injured people in the accident were admitted to hospitals in Warakapola and Wathupitiwala, and the Police said that several others with minor injuries had taken treatment from private medical institutions. According to hospital sources, six of the injured have suffered fractures in their arms and legs. The drivers of the two buses have been arrested.
Danovita Police are conducting further investigations.
