Businessman arrested in bid to sell six pearls

The Panadura Walana Central Anti-Corruption Squad says that a businessman who tried to sell six elephant pearls for Rs.600 million was arrested in Puwakpitiya, Avissawella.

Police say that some elephant pearls found in the suspect’s possession weighs about 325 grams and 328 grams and it can be called the heaviest ever elephant pearls found in the country.

The arrested suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Avissawella Puwakpitiya area and during the questioning he had told Police that the elephant pearls was obtained from a person in Nochchiyagama area in 2019.
