Businessman remanded for damaging State Minister’s vehicle

A millionaire businessman was arrested yesterday (29) by Marawila Police on suspicion of attacking the vehicle of State Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Sanath Nishantha and a security officer of the Minister. The incident took place yesterday in front of the Modarawella Church when the SUV of the State Minister collided with another car in the Marawila Modarawella area. Two persons who were travelling in the other car got angry when they identified that the vehicle belonged to the State Minister and attacked his vehicle with an iron rod. They also assaulted and injured a security guard of the Minister.

The State Minister and a group of others were on their way to participate in a function in the Dankotuwa area.

After the incident, the officers of Marawila Police station arrived at the place and arrested the businessman on several charges.

The State Minister was immediately taken to the function in another vehicle.
