Thirty Badminton coaches from Sri Lanka recently achieved BWF Level 1 certification following an intensive training procedure, organized under the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Level 1 Coach Education Program which was aimed at elevating the coaching standards within the country.
The program successfully conducted by Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) Training and Development Committee, led by Buddhika De Silva, the program attracted a diverse group of 30 participants and the objective was to provide these coaches with the highest level of qualification, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to the growth and development of badminton in the country said Secretary of Sri Lanka Badminton Ajith Wijayasinghe who is an experienced International Badminton referee.
The training sessions concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, where each coach was recognized for their skills. The event was presided over by senior figures in the badminton community, including Badminton Asia Confederation Senior Development Executive Andy Mohammed and Badminton Asia Development Officer Nikhil Chandra Dar.
The certificate presentation ceremony garnered significant attendance from key figures in Sri Lanka Badminton, including Vice President and Technical Committee Chairman Roshan Fernando, Secretary Ajith Wijayasinghe, Treasurer and Training and Development Committee Secretary Mangala Gamage and Training and Development Committee Chairman Buddhika Silva. Also present were World Badminton Federation Educationist Pavitra Abeysirigunawardana and Training and Development Committee member Bimal Kothalawala.
