The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), an agency endorsed by the Green Environment Fund, has granted US$ 1.09 million to implement a project on a sustainable and efficient e-mobility system in Sri Lanka.

Cabinet Spokesman and Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said that the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by him to proceed with the Transport and Highways Ministry as the project implementing agency.

“According to the project implementation plan, the Environment Ministry has been identified as the national entity. However, the Transport and Highways Ministry possesses the ability of initiating the implementation of the project more efficiently together with all the relevant parties since the project scope is under the Transport and Highways Ministry,” the Minister said.
