Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has presented a Cabinet Paper to reduce the price of MOP fertilizer by another 50 percent.
Minister Amaraweera said this while starting the development of Walasmulla Omara Village as a second stage agribusiness village on Sunday (5).
At present, public sector fertilizer companies have 28,600 metric tons of MOP fertilizer.
According to this, the price of MOP fertilizer can be reduced by 50 percent, said Government-owned Fertilizer Companies Chairman Dr. Jagath Perera.
Accordingly, the Minister said that the Cabinet Paper related to reducing the price of MOP fertilizer by 50 percent has been submitted to the Cabinet and it will be approved by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
