Cabraal’s overseas travel ban extended

The overseas travel ban imposed on former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal, was extended till October 26 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela yesterday.

Meanwhile,the Additional Magistrate ordered a re-issue notice on the former Central Bank Governor to appear in Court on October 26.

In April 2022, the Additional Magistrate had issued an order preventing Ajith Nivaard Cabraal from leaving the country. Thereafter, the travel ban imposed on the former Central Bank Governor has been continuously extended.

The complaint had been lodged by former Southern Province Governor Ranjith Keerthi Tennakoon.

The complaint had been lodged against Cabraal for allegedly abusing public funds during his tenure as the Governor of the Central Bank.
